Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s / Master's in Hospital Administration, or equivalent.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  1. Responsible
    for maintaining and securing all written and electronic medical records
    within the facility’s medical records department or its equivalent and
    to ensure that information contained in the record is complete, accurate
    and only available to authorized personnel for timely provision of
    efficient medical transcription services to the hospital.
  2. Communicate and cooperate across departments to ensure the standardization and continuum of care. 
  3. Review, update and ensure compliance of the departmental policies and procedures vis a vis Joint Commission/ ISO Standards. 
  4. Review work procedures and operational problems in order to determine ways to improve service, performance, and/or safety. 
  5. Manage all departmental day to day operations efficiently and diligently. 
  6. Maintain the professional growth and development by keeping abreast of latest trend in the respective field. 
  7. Deal and update queries of customers/ patients/ hospital staff regarding Medical Record files. 
  8. Assist medical staff by answering inquiries and locating patient records; retrieves requested data. 
  9. Provide technical assistance to Medical Records staff on questions involving forms, procedures and record retention. 
  10. Monitor the traceability of confidential medical record files for early delivery. 
  11. Maintain continuity of work operations by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs. 
  12. Enhance
    medical records and hospital reputation by accepting ownership for
    accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add
    value to job accomplishment. 
  13. Coordinate with all concerned for early settlement of any issues related to Medical Record files. 
  14. Generate reports and statistics related to patient admissions, discharges, mortality, and other health indicators.
  15. Provide data support for audits, quality assurance programs, and management decision-making.

Shifa International Hospitals Limited

The idea of Shifa International Hospitals Limited was conceived by a team of expatriate healthcare professionals in 1985 in New York, USA. Their objective was to provide international standard medical care to the people of Pakistan.
After much discussion, it was decided to begin this project in Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan. In 1987, the Hospital was incorporated as a Private Limited Company and then later converted into a Public Limited Company as the only hospital listed on Pakistan Stock Exchange. Shifa was officially opened in 1993, with 8 OPD Clinics & 36 beds.
