Roles and Responsibilities:

Serve as a vital member of the pulmonary care team, reporting to the Lead Respiratory Therapist or Nurse Manager.
Take responsibility for preparing, assisting with, and maintaining all equipment and supplies for bronchoscopic procedures.
Work directly with pulmonologists and nurses to ensure procedures are safe, efficient, and effective.
Act
as the subject matter expert for all bronchoscopy equipment, from
initial setup to meticulous post-procedure cleaning and sterilization.
Prepare the procedure room by ensuring it is clean, stocked, and fully equipped before each case.
Set up and perform functional tests on the video tower, light source, suction, and bronchoscopes to ensure proper working order.
Gather and prepare all necessary supplies, including biopsy forceps, brushes, needles, specimen traps, and medications.
Assist the nursing staff with patient preparation, including confirming identity and reviewing consent forms.
Function as the primary assistant to the pulmonologist during procedures, anticipating needs and passing instruments smoothly.
Correctly receive, label, and preserve all patient specimens (biopsies, lavages, brushings) for laboratory analysis.
Operate technical equipment such as the light source, suction, and video recording systems as directed.

The idea of Shifa International Hospitals Limited was conceived by a team of expatriate healthcare professionals in 1985 in New York, USA. Their objective was to provide international standard medical care to the people of Pakistan.
After much discussion, it was decided to begin this project in Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan. In 1987, the Hospital was incorporated as a Private Limited Company and then later converted into a Public Limited Company as the only hospital listed on Pakistan Stock Exchange. Shifa was officially opened in 1993, with 8 OPD Clinics & 36 beds.
